Iron Gate Tree Lighting Held Despite Arctic Temperature

Staff Writer | Iron Gate, VA (Dec. 11, 2025)— To say there was a chill in the air during tonight's Iron Gate Tree Lighting Ceremony would be an understatement. The Journal braved the weather alongside less than a dozen gatherers as Mayor Kawahna Persinger officially lit this year's tree standing tall outside Town Hall.
Rather than give any long speeches, it seemed the mayor empathized with the shivering visitors, inviting all to continue the festivities inside. There, the cozy, warm Town Hall building was an appropriate setting for the occasion, as guests enjoyed snacks and drinks around the Christmas tree. | |
