Clifton Forge, VA (Sept. 28, 2025)— It was a full house indeed when the Journal stopped by Mountain Gateway Community College's (MGCC) Moomaw Center this afternoon. No vacant chair was seen at any of the tables set up at their highly-anticipated annual event called "Bubbles, Bands, & Brunch." This year's theme was "Hawaiian Luau."

We made our way around the large room, capturing photos of smiling faces as the group enjoyed a Hawaiian-inspired lunch catered by "The Inn at Warm Springs," fruit-filled punches, a silent auction, and a raffle drawing with the grand prize being a luxurious overnight stay at the Omni Homestead Resort. Guests were also treated to photographs taken in front of a Hawaiian-themed backdrop.

Tickets were $65 each for the event, with all proceeds directly supporting the MGCC Educational Foundation which funds scholarships, academic programs, and student success initiatives.

During the event, MGCC President John Rainone announced that the Alleghany Foundation had donated over $700,000 to help with the college's ever-expanding programs, tuition assistance, etc.

As for the raffle drawing, Christie Hardbarger was the lucky winner of the overnight stay at the Omni Homestead Resort.
