Iron Gate Holds Easter Egg Hunt
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Iron Gate, VA (Apr. 12, 2025)— In the town of Iron Gate early this afternoon, it was a brisk 50 degrees with a wind chill making it feel like it was in the mid-high 40's. However, even with temperatures on the decline recently, it didn't stop the youngest area residents of Iron Gate from bundling up and rushing to the Iron Gate Park to search for the eggs that the Easter Bunny left behind.
At promptly 12 noon, as an area DJ was stationed under one picnic area and a grill was set up on the outskirts of the other, music blasted over the speakers as dozens of kids stormed the park in search of colorful Easter eggs.
While some searched the playground area, others ventured near the fence, DJ, or zeroed in beneath the benches and in the grass. No matter their chosen areas of exploration, their bags and baskets gradually filled with pastel-colored plastic eggs, many of which were golden or filled with goodies.
After all the eggs were collected, delighted children were seen munching on the chocolate goodies found inside, taking turns sliding down the slide on the playground, or venturing to the picnic area to wait for the hot dogs coming off the grill. All in all —and despite the chill in the air— it turned out to be a fun-filled event for all the Iron Gate residents who braved the weather. | |
