Botetourt Sheriff's Office Executes Warrant, Recovers Firearm, Suspected Narcotics

Fincastle, VA (Feb. 14, 2025) - The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a narcotics investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, February 14, 2025.

At approximately 7:00 a.m., deputies responded to the 200 block of Spring Hollow Road, to serve a search warrant for narcotics. The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office utilized the Emergency Response Team (ERT) due to credible information indicating that the suspect was armed, ensuring the safety of deputies and the community during the operation.

After safely securing the area, the Emergency Response Team negotiated the suspect's surrender, allowing detectives to process the scene for evidence.

The suspect has been identified as:

Robert Anthony Chittum, 41, of Troutville, Virginia.

Detectives recovered a semi-automatic handgun along with several types of suspected narcotics, which have been sent to the lab for identification.

Chittum has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and is being held in the Botetourt-Craig Regional Jail without bond. Pending the results of the lab analysis, additional charges may be filed.
