'Hometown Halloween' Scores Big in Covington By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Covington, VA (Oct. 30, 2026)— Hometown Halloween was a big success on Main Street in Covington this evening as dozens of families poured onto the street, from what we could tell, about 15-30 minutes before schedule. No matter. Business owners and organizations were happy to hit the ground running for guests donned in scary costumes, inflatable costumes, and several Disney princesses. An hour into the event, the street was lined with, we think, several hundred people. The Journal was on the scene with two of our photographers to capture all the action that ran (scheduled) from 5:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m. Those photos are now on the Alleghany Journal Facebook page.
