Clifton Forge, VA (Oct. 16, 2026)— ConnectionsPlus Health Care + Hospice, located at 609 Church Street in Clifton Forge, hosted a media event at 10:30 a.m. this morning to announce the expansion of its services. The event featured Dr. Tasha Walsh, Dr. Ralph Caldroney, and Autumn Anderson speaking briefly on the exciting new additions of neurology and dermatology services. These new offerings will be provided by two esteemed professionals in their fields: Dr. Shannon Johnston and Dr. Sandra McHenry.

Notably, ConnectionsPlus Health Care + Hospice only celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony in March of this year. Since then, the facility has shown remarkable progress, expanding its services in less than seven months, a testament to its commitment to providing thorough healthcare in our community.

Offering dermatology is Dr. Shannon Johnston, a native to the area with more than 25 years of experience in health care. Johnston earned her Master of Science in Nursing—Family Nurse Practitioner from Maryville University of Saint Louis, holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Liberty University where she graduated with the highest honors, and obtained her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, with honors, from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. Expressing her enthusiasm, Johnston shared with the Alleghany Journal, "I always loved dermatology. That is my passion... I just didn't think I would have another opportunity for dermatology locally."

Meanwhile, Dr. Sandra McHenry, a neurologist with more than thirty years of experience, will oversee neurology at Connections Plus Healthcare + Hospice. She is deeply involved in community health and has collaborated with several different organizations to promote wellness in the area. Through her work on Community Health Improvement Plans, grant writing, and leading health initiatives, it is her overall goal to make the community healthier. Dr. McHenry is also the Healthy Highlands Program Leader at the Alleghany Highlands YMCA. She, too, expressed her excitement about the new opportunity, stating, "I'm excited about seeing patients and being able to deliver a service locally that all would have to go out of town for or wait many months for otherwise."
