Cougars Demolish Little Giants 41-0 in Third Straight Win By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Covington, VA (Sept. 25, 2026)— It was Youth Night on Casey Field this evening when the Alleghany High School (AHS) Cougars faced off against the Waynesboro Little Giants. For the boys in blue, it was a stunning victory against their opponents in purple who were unable to score against the Cougars' defense all night. At the close of the game, the AHS Cougars left the Little Giants in the dust, blowing them away in a 41-0 victory for Alleghany's third straight win. Things got off to a great start for the Cougars when junior Buddy Leisure-White achieved back-to-back gains of 17 and 13 yards. Leisure-White would ultimately run in the Cougars' first touchdown of the night early in the first quarter. Following the extra point kick by senior Mason Hale, Alleghany took an early lead of 7-0. The first quarter would end with those being the only points put on the board. The second quarter paved the way for three more touchdowns, all courtesy of the unstoppable Buddy Leisure-White. With Mason Hale kicking, the Cougars were up 28-0. It looked as though the Cougars were going to score yet another touchdown following a QB run by Talyn Elliott who dodged several tackles for a huge gain. With 3.5 seconds on the clock, Elliott spiked the ball, but the clock had already run out. Coming back from the half, Leisure-White kicked things off with a 45-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point kick by Mason Hale was good, extending the Cougars' lead to 35-0 over the Little Giants. That touchdown would be the only score for either side in the third quarter. Early in the fourth, the Cougars made their way down the field after several successful plays, including a pass caught by senior Colten Jack for 28 yards. In the following play, it was Elliott to Jack for a single yard touchdown. Then, for the first time all night, Mason Hale's kick was blocked by Waynesboro. In the end, it wouldn't matter. The Cougars dominated the Little Giants in a massive 41-0 victory. Alleghany is currently 3-1 overall, and 2-0 in the Shenandoah Region. The Cougars are ranked at #2, just behind Buffalo Gap, who are 3-0.
