'Dolce Designs by Amanda' Holds Ribbon-Cutting Event By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Covington, VA (Sept. 23, 2026)— 'Dolce Designs by Amanda' held its official ribbon-cutting event at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd. The new bakery is located at 105 West Edgemont Drive in Covington, and the event was attended by several residents in Alleghany County. Speaking at the event were Josh Taylor, Executive Director for Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism; Chris Doyle, President of Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism; Allan Tucker, Councilman for the City of Covington; Jeff Irvine, Mayor of Clifton Forge; Matt Garten, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for Alleghany County; David Oliver, Board of Directors member for Alleghany Highlands Economic Development; and Amanda Sprouse, owner of Dolce Designs by Amanda. There were bite-sized samples of Sprouse's cakes served indoors following the ribbon-cutting, where many guests flocked around the counter, socializing and happily digging into the sweet treats.
