| Clifton Forge, VA (Sept. 15, 2026) - The October Clifton Forge Community Gathering will be held Thursday, October 15, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the John Hillert Auditorium at The Historic Masonic Theatre. The evening will provide area residents and community members an opportunity to learn more about the candidates seeking three open seats on the Clifton Forge Town Council.
The featured program will be a Candidate Conversation with the four candidates on the ballot: Dale Burdette, Michael Foster, Debbie Laudermilk and Pamela Lightfoot.
During the conversation, a moderator will pose questions submitted by members of the community. Each candidate will have a designated amount of time to respond, providing an opportunity for attendees to hear the candidates discuss issues and priorities important to the future of Clifton Forge.
Following the moderated portion of the evening, the candidates will have an opportunity to meet informally with attendees and speak with individuals before the Gathering concludes at 8:00 p.m.
The evening will begin with Clifton Forge Town Manager Chuck Unroe presenting a “State of the Town” update, highlighting current activities, projects and other developments in the community.
Information regarding the 1% sales tax referendum that will appear on the November 3 ballot in Alleghany County and the City of Covington will also be presented during the evening.
The Clifton Forge Community Gatherings are held several times throughout the year to provide an open forum for community conversation, information and ideas. Residents, businesses, organizations and others interested in the future of Clifton Forge are encouraged to attend. Participation is not limited to Clifton Forge residents; all area citizens are welcome.
The Gatherings provide an opportunity for community members to exchange ideas, discuss challenges and explore strategies for making Clifton Forge an even better place to live, work, play and do business. The initiative is independent of Clifton Forge Town Government, but works closely with Town officials and community leaders. Its purpose is to encourage citizens to take an active role in shaping the community’s future through informed discussion and collaboration.
