| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Covington, VA (Sept. 1, 2026)— Covington City Council met for their monthly work session on the evening of Tuesday, September 1, at 6:30 p.m. in Covington City Hall.
During the meeting, many city issues were discussed, including the current construction going on in the city of Covington.
Said City Manager Allen Dressler during manager's comments, "Still a lot of work going on in Covington, Virginia, and I know everyone has their fair share of opinion about it, but we're getting ready to get new sewer pipes, line, new pavement; we're getting ready to get new gas lines, new pavement, and the one thing that I think that nobody pays close attention to with folks like Allen Dressler and sure B.B., of course he's back with us now, but there are a number, I mean a number of contractors in our community that are sleeping in Covington, Virginia, that are eating in Covington, Virginia, and just a few moments ago, when I was leaving Exxon, buying a large number of lottery tickets."
Dressler went on to talk about how the city of Covington was doing well this fiscal year to the point of being able to purchase necessary equipment for repairs without putting the financial burden on taxpayers. "...And again," he concluded, "everyone has their opinions of things, but we're doing ok, and we appreciate your [council's] support and your belief in us as we continue to move forward." | | | | | |
