Annual Relay For Life Event Held at Jackson River Sports Complex
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Covington, VA (Aug. 1, 2026)— The Relay for Life held its much-anticipated annual event at the Jackson River Sports Complex, located at 870 West Edgemont Drive in Covington, on August 1, 2026. The event brought the community together from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. to support a very meaningful cause.
The event kicked off with a heartfelt opening ceremony at 6:00 p.m. with a special greeting and poem read by Michele Hylton. Participants and attendees gathered to honor and remember those affected by cancer, setting the tone for an evening of hope and solidarity.
A significant highlight of the evening was the Survivor Walk, where cancer survivors took to the track, celebrated by cheers and applause from supporters. This walk symbolized resilience and the triumph over cancer.
Prior to the main event, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a car show delighted many local car enthusiasts. This display of classic and modern cars attracted many auto lovers, with all proceeds from the show going towards the Relay for Life fundraising efforts. | | | | | |
