Local Kids Perform Rapunzel This Saturday

 
Covington, VA (July 22, 2026) - This Saturday, July 25th, the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council will, once again, present Missoula Children's Theatre's production of RAPUNZEL. Show times are 11:00 am and 2:00 pm in Curfman Hall at Covington Middle School. Admission is $6 per person and children 5 and younger are admitted free. Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtimes. It’s out of the tower and on the run as a zany cast of friends and foes from all across the Alleghany Highlands assist in Rapunzel’s harrowing escape from the imprisonment of Madame Gothel.

Playing the title character, Rapunzel, are local students Paisley Brooks and Lily Maccentelli. Jack Nicely and Parker Noel appear as the Princes; Emily Gadd as Madame Gothel; Kensi Lomasney and Eliot O’Meara as Rapunzel’s parents, Monique and Maurice; Reagan Wright, Gwen Halterman, Penelope Thompson, Samantha Armstrong, Maria Rodriguez, Larkin Lomasney, and Amanda Sanchez-Moreno as the singing Wood Elves; Isaiah Layman as the Troll; Mila Lodge and Ellie Mann as the Ears of Corn; Madison Withrow as the Potato; Claire Belcher and Josie Mann as the Unicorns; Goldie Bergman, Alyssa Walker, Stella Nogueira, Carolyn Little, and Lucy Martin as the Pixies; Parley Filips, Pierce Thompson, Shyanne Thornton, Natalie Armstrong, and Lily Bresnehan as the Gremlins; Elizabeth Walton, McKinley Yeagley, and Kendra Wright as the Billy Goats Gruff. The Three Bears and Beaver are made up of Morgan O’Meara, Hannah Sibold, Mayzlee Wiseman, and Emerson White. August “Gus” Martin, Jolon Little, Lexi Balser, and Brianna Knicely will play the Ogres. Appearing as the Mushrooms are Haynes Howard, Mila Nogueira, Luke Dean, Maxwell Dean, Dalton Mann, Madison Nicely, Baylor Smith, Eleanor Filips, and Leah Southall. Heide Hale has served as Assistant Director throughout the week.

The MCT actor/directors are Morgan Baily and Ray Barber. The accompanist is Cathy Drummer. This week's production supervisor has been Jacy Burdette, and Tammy Scruggs-Duncan rounds out the team as executive director of the Arts Council.

Missoula Children’s Theatre residencies are sponsored each year by the Arts Council with support from The Alleghany Foundation and the Frances P. Rupert Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Foundation Serving Southwest Virginia. Supplemental funding is also provided by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, Alleghany County, the Town of Clifton Forge, and the City of Covington.
