| Josh Anglin Breaks Guiness World Record for Longest 10-Pin Bowling Marathon
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Covington, VA (July 16, 2024)β In an incredible feat of both endurance and determination, 19-year-old Josh Anglin from Covington, VA, has officially penned his name in the Guinness Book of World Records. As of 11:00 a.m. this morning, Josh completed over 135 hours of continuous 10-pin bowling, achieving this impressive milestone during game number 597 at Thunder Alley, which is located at 104 Mall Road in Covington.
Anglin's impressive marathon began Friday, July 10, at 8:00 p.m. Then, at 11:00 a.m. today, he made history. The previous record, which stood for 16 years, has now been surpassed by the teen's extraordinary effort. As of writing this article, he continues to bowl, setting his sights on not just breaking the record, but obliterating it.
In an interview with the Alleghany Journal around noon today, Josh Anglin expressed his disbelief and excitement at being included in the Guinness Book of World Records. βIt feels great,β he shared. "It's surreal... I feel like a whole new person." Anglin also attributed his success to the unwavering support of the community. "The supporters were great. You know, it wouldn't be possible without them. I'm so glad that they could be here for everything. They were crucial for this entire thing."
On our way out of Thunder Alley, we paused briefly to speak with his family, who mentioned that Anglin shared he may continue his marathon "until eight o'clock tonight or eight in the morning. He just doesn't know yet."
As Anglin continues to bowl beyond hour 136, his spirit and dedication has inspired the community around him. His achievement, we think, is a raw testimony to what can be accomplished with passion, support, and perseverance. The community of Alleghany County stands proudly behind our young record-breaker, celebrating his tremendous accomplishment and cheering him on as he presses on. | | Anglin continued to bowl into hour 136 during the Journal's visit to Thunder Alley this morning.
