Clifton Forge, VA (June 30, 2026) — On Tuesday, June 30, the town of Clifton Forge held a community meeting at the Historic Masonic Theatre from 6:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m. to discuss a potential project that could significantly benefit the town.

The project, pending funding approval, would be supported by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. If the grant is awarded, Clifton Forge could receive up to $1.6 million, which would be instrumental in advancing local development.

The hour-long presentation was led by Kenny Rodgers, Senior Rural Housing Specialist for the Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project, Inc. (SERPA), who jokingly jump-started the presentation by insisting he did not know Dolly Parton and, sadly, he does not sing. Rodgers then carefully presented the crowd with nearly 20 slides, answering questions along the way.

This potential project is in its beginning stages, though the Journal will continue to follow this story as it develops.
