Low Moor, VA (June 25, 2026) - The Alleghany Co. Board of Supervisors, in a relatively brief session this evening, decided to hold the 49 cent real estate tax rate, as well as the $2.98 personal property rate the same for the next fiscal year.
And, in a bit of a change from expectations, the Supervisors decided to only increase water and sewer monthly rates by $1 each per month, instead of the initially proposed $2 increase.
The Supervisors also:
• approved transfer station tipping fees and commercial tire disposal fees
• adopted the revised classification pay plan to reflect cost of living increases for county employees
• approved water and sewer rates for both the towns of Clifton Forge and Iron Gate for fiscal year 2027.
• formally adopted the county budget for the next fiscal year
• approved an amended agreement with the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism for marketing services
• approved a supplement appropriation for fiscal year 2026 for the Intervale Pump Station project.
