Clifton Forge, VA (June 9, 2026)— It's good news for Clifton Forge following the approval of the 2026-2027 fiscal year budget. Among the items considered was to move forward with no monthly increases to either the water or sewer service charges. Thus, the current rates will remain $41.80 for water service, and $72.20 for sewer, totaling $114/month.
Meanwhile, during Chuck Unroe's manager's comments, it was mentioned that speed humps were coming for the town of Clifton Forge. As the town manager noted, these are different than speed bumps, as they can (and will be) removed when winter weather comes. According to Unroe, the town has received several complaints about speeding on several major residential streets including Commercial, Rose, Church, and Roxbury. Those humps will begin to go down sometime next week.
Just after the meeting, the Journal caught up with Unroe to find out if the aforementioned streets were the only ones to be affected. The town manager noted those were the predominant streets that will see speed humps, but others may be included after the project begins.
The Journal livestreamed the entirety of the Clifton Forge Town Council Meeting, and that video is now available on our Facebook page. | | Councilman Carl "Shorty" Wolfe was not physically present during tonight's meeting, but attended by phone. Mayor Jeff Irvine put his phone on speaker and walked out to the crowd as Wolfe digitally delivered his council comments.
