Clifton Forge, VA (June 4, 2026)— The Historic Masonic Theatre, located at 510 Main Street in Clifton Forge, recently opened a Quilts of Valor exhibit to the public. The Quilts of Valor is a stunning collection of patriotic quilts crafted with dedication and artistry by local quilters. This special exhibit is located on the third floor and is an integral part of VA 250, Virginia's celebration of America's 250th anniversary.
The Quilts of Valor exhibit is venerably named after the Wall of Valor, symbolizing the honor and tribute paid to those who served the country. Each quilt in the collection tells a unique story, woven together with themes of bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism. The quilts are not mere pieces of fabric, but heartfelt expressions of gratitude and respect for the values and freedoms that America has always stood for.
To honor the talented individuals who have contributed to the exhibit, a celebratory party will be held for the quilters in the same room displaying their masterpieces. This gathering, open to the public, offers a wonderful opportunity to meet the creative minds behind the quilts. The special event will take place on June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Historic Masonic Theatre. | | Perhaps the most moving —and largest— of the quilts was this piece done by Armilda Hayes. Inscribed beside in on a placard are the words, "Made in Memory of my son, Gerald McCulley Who died March 31, 2017."
