Alleghany Co. Sheriff's Office: Promotions Made, Certificates Awarded   Covington, VA (May 28, 2026) - Cucci's Pizzeria was the scene of a big crowd of family and friends watching the promotions ceremony held today by the Alleghany County/Covington Sheriff's office. Alleghany Regional Jail promotions were given to C. Lewis - Sergeant, H. Clark - Corporal, K. Myers - Corporal, and A. Alfred - Corporal. Patrol promotions were awarded to E. Soto - Sergeant, R. Dudley - Corporal, S. Holt - Corporal, R. Fischer - Corporal, and T. Humphries - Corporal. Staffers Fran Grady and Liz Martin were given Certificates of achievement at the ceremony. And Lt. Clinton (Tater) Phillips was elevated to the rank of Captain.
