Clifton Forge, VA (May 27, 2026)— The Jackson River Governor's School (JRGS) held an awards ceremony in the convocation center at Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) on Wednesday evening. The ceremony began at 6:00 p.m. and lasted about an hour, featuring numerous awards, trophies, and gifts for its recipients.
The awards presented included the MGCC Certificate of Career Studies, the MGCC Associate of Arts and Sciences, Academic Achievement Awards, Academic Excellence Awards, Distinguished Scholars, First Year Certificates, Outstanding Scholars, Master Scholars, and Senior Completion Certificates. |  | Shortly after the ceremony, the Journal was intrigued to learn that Eddie Graham (center) taught two generations of Nicely's; Carter Nicely (left) and his grandfather, Marion Nicely (right).
