 | During the Veterans in the Park veteran’s tribute, Curtis A Smith VFW Post 1033 presented Larry Owens’ American flag in a very emotional moment. Owens served in the United States Army infantry from November 1970 to June 1972 and served in Germany after Basic Training.
For whatever reason, Owens was not provided Military Rites at his funeral. Larry’s brothers, John and Don, wished to hear taps played in honor of their brother’s service to this great country at this event today. Unexpectedly, Owens’ wife brought his flag, and Comrades Paul Linkenhoker and Bill Atherholt, folded the flag and presented to his wife.
Larry, John and Don are the sons of WWII veteran, John Owens, age 102, who was honored at this event two years ago.
