Clifton Forge, VA (May 21, 2026)— The Mountain Momma Maternity Support group, a nonprofit organization in Clifton Forge, held its official ribbon-cutting event today in Clifton Forge. The event was held in the organization's home, the second floor of Clifton Forge Baptist Church (CFBC), located at 511 McCormick Boulevard, at 11:30 a.m. this morning.

"Mountain Momma Maternity Support was founded to close the gap in local maternal resources, education and community. Since 2025, the Support Closet has provided over 2,000 diapers, 3,000 ounces of formula, and thousands of dollars in free maternal and baby essentials." With the assistance of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), 2026 promises to expand the ministry, seeking to provide monthly postpartum mental health support groups, birth and lactation classes, and even expanding further "to meet the needs of more families in the Highlands."

Speaking at today's ribbon-cutting were Josh Taylor, Executive Director for the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism; Erin Via, President Elect for the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism; Jeff Irvine, Clifton Forge Mayor; Courtney Howard, member of the Alleghany County Board of Supervisors; Tyler Sizemore, Deputy Director for Alleghany Highlands Economic Development; Mikayla Hansen, Executive Director and founder of Mountain Momma Maternity Support; and Sarah Lawrence, Population Health Community Coordinator for the Virginia Department of Health in Roanoke.

(L to R) Sandra McHenry, Lisa Napier, Mikayla Hansen, Kelsey Adcock, and Manny Hernandez.
