Clifton Forge, VA (May 7, 2026)— The Town of Clifton Forge held a special ceremony earlier this afternoon, May 7, to commemorate today's National Day of Prayer. Among the speakers were Pastor Carl "Shorty" Wolfe praying for the safety of our leaders and military, Pastor Gene Ayers praying for law enforcement, Lisa Marshall praying for the country, Pastor Mark Rosier praying for Clifton Forge and Alleghany county, Reverend Glenn Linthicum praying for the renewal of our churches, and Elder Cornelius Ray praying for our schools and teachers.

The short event ran from 12:00pm-about 12:30 p.m., bringing with it light sprinkles of rain. In addition to prayers led by local pastors, Tammy Wolfe led the crowd in singing "Strong Tower," while Bishop Alfred Mustard Deering Sr. led the closing prayer.

The Journal was also on the scene for photos and video, all of which will be available soon on our Facebook and website pages.
