National Day Of Prayer Event Held At Cov. City Hall
|
| Covington, VA (May 7, 2026) - The annual National Day of Prayer event in Covington is usually held on the steps of city hall, but a morning bit of rain forced a quick change of plans: the special gathering was brought inside to council chambers.
The clearly-stated goal of the event was to "Glorify God among the nations, seeking him in all generations." The many speakers did their best to fulfill those expectations.
After an opening prayer by Good News Church pastor Steve Noel and a welcome by Covington Mayor Raymond Hunter, David Crosier sang the popular Lee Greenwood song, "God Bless The USA."
Special prayers were held for various groups in society, soon thereafter:
• Prayer for the Church - Rev. Bill Gilliland
• Prayer for Family - Evangelist Tamala Preston
• Prayer for Education - Elder Randall Allen
• Prayer for Business and the Workplace - Rev. David Schmall
• Prayer for the Military - Sheriff Kyle Moore
- Prayer for Government - Covington City Manager Allen Dressler
• Prayer for Arts, Entertainment, and Media: Pastor Lorri Boyd
• 2026 National Prayer - Pastor George Broughman
Jed Carpenter shared some thoughts and sang a song for the crowd and Good News Church Pastor Linda Kagarise closed with thanks to all for their attendance.
The Alleghany Journal broadcast the entire session LIVE on Facebook and will soon post the entire video on its YouTube channel. | | David Crosier
