VA250 “From the Neighborhood” Quilt Exhibit Opens at the Historic Masonic Theatre
An inspiring display of artistry, patriotism, and gratitude

CLIFTON FORGE, VA (APRIL 30, 2026) - The Historic Masonic Theatre invites the community to experience a remarkable VA250 quilt exhibit on display in the WestRock Room from May 1 through July 10. This special showcase features 38 handcrafted quilts created by talented local quilters, offering visitors a unique blend of artistic expression and heartfelt storytelling.

The exhibit extends beyond the WestRock Room, with vibrant red, white, and blue quilts thoughtfully displayed throughout the Theatre’s Lobby, Theatre Annex, and along the halls and entrances of the third floor. The result is an immersive visual experience that celebrates both craftsmanship and community pride.

A central and deeply meaningful component of the exhibition is the inclusion of 19 quilts for the Quilts of Valor Foundation. These quilts are created and donated by local quilters to be awarded to service members and veterans who have been touched by war. Each quilt represents not only hours of careful workmanship, but also a gesture of comfort, healing, and sincere appreciation for sacrifice and service.

“This exhibit beautifully captures the intersection of art and gratitude,” said Wendy Hudler, Director of Operations, Historic Masonic Theatre. “Each quilt tells a story, and together they create a powerful tribute to both our local quilting community and those who have served our country.”

Quilt makers who have quilts on display include, Brenda Bartocci, Carol Almarez, Armilda Hayes, Sarah Lithigo, Debbie Umstead, Nadene Walters, Valerie Hepler, Ruthie Craft, Lynne Bowman, Heather Newmarker, Pam Pace, Cindy Morris, Kathy Smedstad, Sue Leitch, Vickie Bartley, Stacy Bryant, Stephanie Knovake, Libby Fridley, the Crazy Creasey Quilters, guest quilter, Kaye England, and WWII quilt loaned by LeeAnna Tyler. Many of the quilts on display were machine quilted by Brenda Martin.

The exhibit is open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to call the Theatre at 540-862-5655 prior to their visit, as the WestRock Room may occasionally be unavailable due to scheduled events.

This moving exhibit offers an opportunity for reflection, appreciation, and inspiration. Guests are warmly invited to explore the collection and experience the meaningful stories stitched into every piece.
