VMI Commanders Jazz Band Dazzles Spectators at JRSC
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Covington, VA (Apr. 26, 2026)— The VMI Commanders jazz band played a 2-hour set today at the Jackson River Sports Complex (JRSC) River Rock Ampitheatre, located at 870 West Edgemont Drive in Covington. The concert, which ran from 3:00 p.m.—5:00 p.m., was part of Covington's VA250 celebration.
Among the songs featured on Sunday afternoon, April 26, were: "Hooked on a Feeling," originally recorded by B.J. Thomas; "Somewhere Beyond the Sea," made popular in the U.S. by Frank Sinatra; "Think" by Aretha Franklin; "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" by the Andrews Sisters; and the patriotic, "This is my Country" by Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians.
