Clifton Forge Little League Holds Opening Ceremony on Sharon Field
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Clifton Forge, Va (Apr. 18, 2026)— It was a very warm, 80° morning at Sharon Field when five teams representing the Clifton Forge Little League (CFLL) stood along the baseball diamond. The nonprofit organization was established in 1952 and is currently open to all boys and girls aged 4-16 who are interested in playing t-ball, softball, and baseball.
Today's opening ceremony began at 11:00 a.m. and included a few speeches, the CFLL pledge, the parents' pledge, the playing of the Star Spangled Banner as the American flag was raised, and Grover Nicely tossing the first pitch. Afterwards, gameplay began at 12:00 p.m., with the last game of the day set for 4:00 p.m.
The Alleghany Journal was on hand to capture video and several photos of the event which soon be made available on our Facebook page and Alleghany Journal website. | | | | | |
