Highlands Community Bank Hosts Business After Hours Event By Ashley Prior Staff Writer   Covington, Va (April. 9, 2026) – This evening the Journal joined Highlands Community bank as it hosted this month’s Business After Hours event from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at its location on Thacker Avenue in Covington. The event, organized in partnership with the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, serves as an opportunity for local businesses and community members to connect, network, and socialize in a relaxed setting. April marks Community Lenders Month, and Highlands Community Bank is celebrating with a series of giveaways and promotions throughout the month. One of the featured giveaways includes a kayak, purchased locally from Alleghany Outdoors, along with a paddle. To be entered to win, individuals must like the Highlands Community Bank Facebook page. While the giveaways are part of the bank’s month-long celebration, attendees enjoyed an evening of networking, refreshments, and community connections. A wide variety of food was available including stuffed mushrooms, meatballs, chocolate-covered strawberries, banana pudding, a charcuterie board, spinach dip with chips, sliders, and many beverages. Business After Hours events are designed to foster relationships, encourage collaboration, and promote growth within the Alleghany Highlands business community.
