Clifton Forge, Va (April 3, 2026) – Recently the Journal sat down with new business owners Tracy and Jason Klein to discuss their upcoming venture, the “Happie Hippie Camp Store,” (531 Main St., Clifton Forge) which is expected to bring a fresh sense of positivity and outdoor spirit to the area.

The couple relocated to Clifton Forge in December 2023 from Mississippi, inspired by a desire for change by the pandemic, a need to escape difficult weather conditions, and most importantly their family.

The Kleins, who have been married for 14 years, have three children: Calvin (21), and twins Elisabeth and Alex (23). They say the move has been one of the best decisions they have made, both as a family and individuals.

Their journey into business ownership came somewhat unexpectedly. Although they initially had little experience with camping, what began as a challenge soon turned into a passion, ultimately inspiring the creations of the Happie Hippie Camp Store. Even the name, they said, was decided during a car ride.

The Happie Hippie Camp Store will center around a bright, welcoming atmosphere with what the owners describe as a “happy hippie” theme. The shop will offer a variety of outdoor and lifestyle products including fishing gear, rods and reels, tents, hammocks, sleeping bags, and other camping essentials. In addition, the store will carry some apparel and accessories such as water shoes, flip fops, and Crocs, along with themed merchandise celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

The Kleins say one of the most rewarding parts of starting their business has been the support they have received from the community. “We love this town and want to be a part of its rebirth,” they said.

They noted the community has been especially supportive, offering advice and encouragement as they get established. The couple are a part of the Gauntlet program, a program designed to help entrepreneurs, startups, and expanding businesses, and are new members to the Chamber of Commerce. The store is projected to open May 2, 2026, though that date may shift slightly. A ribbon cutting for the store is planned for the end of June.

With a focus on positivity, family, and community involvement, the Happie Hippie Camp Store is quickly becoming a unique addition to the Clifton Forge area.
