| Developmental Services Awareness Festival & “Art from the Heart” Event Planned for March 28
| By Ashley Prior Staff Writer | Clifton Forge, Va (March. 26, 2026) – This afternoon the Journal sat down with Kayla Douglas (Support Coordination Supervisor) and Meghan Ransom (Support Coordinator), who are organizing the upcoming Developmental Services Awareness Festival. Alleghany Highlands Community Services, in collaboration with the Town of Clifton Forge, will host the festival this Saturday March 28, on Church Street in Clifton Forge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The festival will feature food vendors, entertainment, activities, and community resource information, with a focus on promoting awareness and inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities. Planned entertainment includes an Easter Bunny appearance, a magician, A1 Studios and more.
Douglas and Ransom said the event is designed to bring the community together while highlighting the importance of inclusion and opportunity for all. “The goal is to promote inclusion so that individuals with disabilities have a life like you and I,” they said.
As a part of the day’s events, “Art from the Heart” will take place at the Clifton Forge School of the Arts. The program will include two sessions: an Easter Bunny canvas painting at 11 a.m. and a landscape artwork inspired by Jada Callender. Proceeds from the sessions along with a 50/50 raffle, will go to the Jada Callender Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports local students.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and take part in a day of art, celebration, education, and fun.
All photos will soon be made available on the Alleghany Journal Facebook page.
