Local Government Meets at Covington City Hall to Sign Three Proclamations By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Covington, VA (Mar. 11, 2026)— It was a busy day in Covington today when four local government representatives met at City Hall to sign three proclamations. The first was a proclamation designating April as Clean Up Month in the Alleghany Highlands, the second was declare March as National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Education and Awareness month, and the third was to designate May 17-23 as National Public Works Week. Present for the signings were Clifton Forge Mayor Jeff Irvine, Board Member for the Alleghany County Board of Supervisors, Shannon Cox, Covington City Manager Allen Dressler, and Iron Gate Councilman Christopher Mayo, and attested by Covington City Clerk Amber Berberette. Also present were Covington Women's Club members Nancy Moga, Emily Amick, Katina Holloway, Debbie Amick, and Harriet Byers. Lacy Meyer was also present to represent the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
