Alleghany Highlands School Board Meets to Discuss Budget By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Low Moor, VA (March 2, 2026) — On the evening of Monday, March 2, 2026, the Alleghany Highlands School Board met to discuss the annual budget. Present for tonight's meeting were Chairman Jon Lanford, Vice-Chairman Jay Woodson, Jonathan Arritt, Bob Umstead, and Nicole Clemons. Also present were Superintendent of AHPS Kim Halterman, Supervisor of Finance Teresa Persinger, Fred Vaughn, and Melinda Snead-Johnson. Danielle Morgan and John Littleon, who are both board members, were not present. The meeting included a moment of silence for troops overseas, a pledge, a budget update based on the proposed Governor's budget from December, a public hearing that was ultimately cancelled due to no one from the public attending the meeting, and a discussion of the superintendent's budget.
