Welcome to Spring, Kaye England Quilt Retreat at The Historic Masonic Theatre

Clifton Forge, VA (March 2, 2026) From April 8 through April 11, The Historic Masonic Theatre will turn into a haven for quilters—beginners, intermediate and advanced—when internationally known quilter, Kaye England shares her knowledge and inspiration at the nineth “Welcome to Spring, Kaye England” Quilt Retreat.

Kaye returns to teach a variety of quilt methods including the medallion quilt, applique, and precision piecing in addition to many additional techniques, lectures and demos. The sold-out Retreat located in the Theatre third floor WestRock Room provides hand-outs, morning and afternoon breaks, lunches and dinners and optional evening quilting. New this year is a small merchant corner.

Quilters from over eleven different states are attending.

Kaye England began quilt making and fabric collecting in earnest in the early 1980’s, but was influenced early on by a family of needle workers. She now designs fabrics for Wilmington Fabrics and heads her own publishing company, Kaye England Publications. Kaye has traveled the world conducting sold-out lectures and workshops showcasing her wonderful and infectious fabrics, patterns and quilts, as well as her unique and honest outlook on life. Kaye is known for her ability for generating enthusiasm and excitement in her work and having great fun in the process. Despite a hectic schedule, Kaye always finds time to quilt. She has written 14 books and has produced many feature length instructional DVD’s using rulers in quilting, piecing and patchwork techniques. Several years ago, she began online teaching with her “Staycation” series of classes and continues online teaching for Accuquilt. Kaye was born and raised on a farm in Glasgow, Kentucky. She now resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has two children, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and llamas and goats.

For the fifth year in a row, Kaye has donated a quilt to be raffled and the money will be donated to The Historic Masonic Theatre. This year’s quilt and shams, “Lockwood Manor” is a beautiful, generous queen-sized quilt featuring blacks, golds and cream fabrics from Kaye England’s collections of quilt fabrics. The beautiful quilt is on display in the Theatre Lobby. Raffle tickets are available at the Theatre during business hours of 10:00-3:00 Tuesdays through Fridays, before and after events and from Theatre Board members. Tickets also sell online at www.historicmasonictheatre.com. Tickets sell for $5.00 per ticket or $25.00 for a book of six. The winning ticket will be drawn by Kaye England on the morning of April 11 and you do not need to be present to win.

Kaye England has visited the Alleghany Highlands several times; she was a featured artist at Alleghany Highlands Heritage Day in 2016 and has taught seven Retreats prior to the April Welcome to Spring Retreat. Kaye says, “I am delighted for the opportunity to once again visit The Historic Masonic Theatre for our quilt retreat in this lovely community center. For those that have not visited, this is a magnificent facility nestled in a delightful area with wonderful eateries as well as great people.”

Sponsors for the retreat are Wilmington Fabrics, Bernina of America, Accuquilt and The Historic Masonic Theatre.
