Planning Is Underway for the 2026 Relay for Life of Alleghany County: Upcoming Event on August 1, 2026   Covington, VA (March 2, 2026) - Planning is underway for the 2026 Relay For Life of Alleghany County, marking the event’s 30th anniversary. The community is invited to join this meaningful milestone event on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 6:00–10:00 p.m. at the Jackson River Sports Complex. This year’s theme, “All Aboard the Hope Express,â€� celebrates hope, remembrance, and support for those affected by cancer. The evening will conclude with the Luminaria Ceremony, honoring cancer survivors and remembering those who have lost their lives to the disease. Event highlights include: • Survivor recognition • Live music provided by the City of Covington • A car show benefiting Relay For Life (additional details forthcoming) • Vendor opportunities (applications available) • Basket Alley raffle • Games and activities for all ages Vendors interested in participating should contact Michele Hylton at 540-968-6273 or hope07oct@hotmail.com. Volunteers are essential to the success of Relay For Life. Community members are encouraged to assist with planning, event-day activities, setup, and teardown. Planning meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Bella Pizza in Clifton Forge. Meetings will be canceled if schools are closed due to weather.
