| Longtime Public Works Employee, Amanda Gunter, Promoted to Director of Public Works
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Clifton Forge, VA (Feb. 10, 2026)— Amanda Gunter, a seven-year veteran with the Public Works Department, was just promoted as the Director of Public Works, according to Clifton Forge Town Manager Chuck Unroe. The news came Tuesday evening during the monthly Clifton Forge Town Council Meeting as Unroe was giving his manager's comments.
Until recently, Unroe was the acting Public Works Director, while Gunter served as Assistant Director. With Gunter's appointment, Brandon Morris moved up as assistant director.
"Amanda [Gunter] has worked hard to attain this promotion, taking some leadership classes, worked really hard managing the crew over the last five or six, eight months I guess, since she's been in that position working as the assistant director," Unroe said Tuesday. The town manager also noted that his salary had been adjusted back to what it had been prior to his acting as interim public works director.
The entirety of this evening's Clifton Forge Town Council Meeting was livestreamed by your Alleghany Journal and is currently available for viewing on our Facebook page.
