Covington, VA (Feb. 3, 2026)— It was a brief meeting tonight for Covington City Council's monthly work session, ending about 30 minutes after it began. The most lengthy portion was the manager's report put forth by the current Covington City Manager, Allen Dressler.
Dressler's report was full of several updates, which included a moment where he praised the public works department for their efforts in cleaning up following the January snowfall. "I'm proud to say that across the community, we did, we got things passable. Our main thoroughfares were in very good shape across 220, here, the town," Dressler said Tuesday night. "So we got that accomplished going into Monday, and then we started working diligently at getting our crossovers, our intersections, all those types of things clean."
"We had a mess," Dressler said pointedly. "It was not an easy snow to move by no means." The town manager went on to note that the city had help from three local contractors who "graciously" assisted in removing snow, citing the job was so big they "physically couldn't get it done" alone.
Dressler's entire manager's report is now available on the Alleghany Journal's Facebook page.
