| Roanoke, VA (Feb. 3, 2026) - Editor's Note: Kristen Patterson, President of The Alleghany Highlands Longbeards, recently sent us this report:
"At the recent National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) State Convention held in Roanoke, our local NWTF chapter was honored with multiple awards recognizing our efforts in youth and women’s outreach. These awards highlight the work our volunteers have done right here in our community to introduce new generations and new audiences to conservation, outdoor education, and responsible hunting traditions.
Our chapter has focused heavily on youth events, mentorship opportunities, and women-focused programs that create a welcoming and educational environment for those interested in the outdoors. Being recognized at the state level is a meaningful acknowledgment of the time and dedication our local volunteers invest throughout the year.
We believe this recognition reflects positively on our community and the people who give their time to support conservation and education."
