YMCA Launches January Jumpstart, Waving Joining Fees for New Members

Covington, VA (Jan. 15, 2026)— It's an exciting time for anyone who may be considering a membership at the Alleghany Highlands YMCA, located at 101 YMCA Way in Covington. Currently, the facility is running a promotion they are calling "Jumpstart January," designed specifically for those with a New Year's Resolution to get healthier in 2026.
The promotion promises to wave the joining fee during the month of January, so new members only pay the monthly membership to get started. For those needing financial assistance, scholarships are available to help with recurring fees. As such, there's no better time to join the YMCA than right now.
The Journal paid a visit to the YMCA this morning to talk to Matt Clayton, Wellness Coordinator and Personal Trainer, to discuss the promotion, various classes at the YMCA, childcare options, Parents' Night Out, and much more that the local Y has to offer.
