Garten, Griffith Appointed for Chair, Vice-Chair of the Alleghany County Board of Supervisors By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Covington, VA (Jan. 6, 2026)— It was a brief meeting this evening during the first Alleghany County Board of Supervisors session for 2026. During the less-than-hour-long meeting, County Administrator Ken McFadyen assisted the board in appointing both the chairman and vice-chairman for the 2026 year. During that time, Matt Garten (Falling Spring District) was appointed chair, while James M. Griffith (Covington) was appointed vice-chair. Both members were the only nominees and both were voted in unanimously. The Alleghany Journal was present for the meeting and livestreamed it in its entirety.
