| EDA Meeting Leads to Approval of Multimillion Dollar CSX Project
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Clifton Forge, VA (Dec. 18, 2025)— At 2:00 p.m. today, the Economic Development Authority of the Town of Clifton Forge met at Clifton Forge Town Hall to discuss the "CSX Project." As readers may recall, the Journal recently reported on the town's desire to convert the old CSX building into a hotel.
The Alleghany Journal was also on the scene this afternoon as Zack Miller, Development Works Manager for VCDC, gave a presentation on his thoughts for the building, discussed the cost of predevelopment, and offered an estimate on the final project. With Miller was Laura Dupuy, Director of VCDC Community Lending, and Kelly Lisanti, Loan Manager for VCDC.
According to Miller's presentation, the CSX building would become a 20-room boutique hotel, cost $60,000 in predevelopment costs, and have a final ballpark estimate of around four to six million dollars to complete.
In the end, the panel unanimously voted to approve Miller's proposal. | | | Laura Dupuy, Director of Community Lending for VCDC, was also on hand to answer questions during the meeting.
|
| | Dr. Maria Saxton, Director of Planning and Community Development for the Town of Clifton Forge, was in attendance for the meeting.
