This year's Iron Gate Christmas Tree was first lit tonight at a brief tree lighting ceremony outside Town Hall.

Iron Gate Tree Lighting Held Despite Arctic Temperature By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Iron Gate, VA (Dec. 11, 2025)— To say there was a chill in the air during tonight's Iron Gate Tree Lighting Ceremony would be an understatement. The Journal braved the weather alongside less than a dozen gatherers as Mayor Kawahna Persinger officially lit this year's tree standing tall outside Town Hall. Rather than give any long speeches, it seemed the mayor empathized with the shivering visitors, inviting all to continue the festivities inside. There, the cozy, warm Town Hall building was an appropriate setting for the occasion, as guests enjoyed snacks and drinks around the Christmas tree. Mayor Kawahna Persinger offered a few short words before and after the lighting of the Iron Gate Christmas tree, including a wish for all to have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It was a small, but lively crowd inside Town Hall tonight as guests enjoyed snacks and drinks around the indoor Christmas tree.
