Mountain Rush to Open First Virtual Reality Escape Room in Alleghany County
| By Ashley Prior Staff Writer | Covington, VA (Oct. 27, 2025) — This morning the Journal paid a visit to Mountain Rush at 410 W. Mains St. in Covington, where owner Richard Mansell announced the opening of his newest virtual reality (VR) escape room. This escape room marks the first of its kind in Alleghany County. "Up to five people can go through the escape room and work the puzzles," stated Mansell.
There are two versions of the virtual escape room: a 40-minute adventure and a 20-minute adventure. In this particular escape room, instead of using a joy stick, you are able to use "Arena Mode" and are able to physically move around, see and interact with other player and more. "One puzzle in particular is a lot easier with two people," commented Mansell.
The cost is $20 for the full 40-minute adventure, and $10 for the 20-minute adventure. Walk-ins are welcome, however, it is also recommended to call 24 hours in advance and reserve your 45-minute session at ( 540-987-4035. Mountain Rush is also on Facebook at mountainrushva. Normal hours of operation are Thursday-Saturday 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
