AHS Concert and Treble Choirs Put Finishing Touches on 'Party Like It's 1999' Weekend Concert Series

Covington, VA (Oct. 23, 2025)— For the Alleghany High School (AHS) concert and treble choirs, this week has been all about fine-tuning their upcoming weekend concert series, "Party Like It's 1999." The Journal stopped in on Wednesday afternoon for interviews with both choir director Amanda Sprouse, as well as several choirs. Both of those interviews are now available on our Alleghany Journal Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The Journal also paid a visit to tonight's dress rehearsal, held in Hodnett Hall, and were privy to several solos and group numbers. As one would expect from a "Party Like It's 1999" setlist, most of the songs are pulled straight from the 90's and Y2K eras. The numbers included "Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin and performed by the concert choir, "...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears and performed by the treble choir with featured soloists, "Bye, Bye, Bye" by N'SYNC and performed by the "Out-of-Sync" trio of Paisley Brooks, Megan Powell, and Corey Wiseman, "Since You've Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson and performed by Esperanza Mireles, and many others.

The concerts are slated to begin on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. in Hodnett Hall and carry over to Saturday with a matinee beginning at 2:00 p.m. with another show to follow at 6:00 p.m. This is the choirs' biggest fundraiser of the year and will aid in their end-of-year field trip to New York. Tickets $7 for adults, $5 for children 12-under, and free for those 3-under. They will be both sold at the door and by members of the Alleghany High School concert and treble choirs.
