Local Affair Blends Familiar Faces with New Residents at 'Newcomers Event'
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Clifton Forge, VA (Oct. 22, 2025)— On the evening of Wednesday, October 22, the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism sponsored a "Newcomers Event" which was held at the Clifton Forge School of the Arts. The event began at 5:30 p.m. and included a social hour, a 6:30 p.m. dinner, and a campfire with smores at 7:30 p.m.
The purpose of the event was to welcome both new residents in the area as well as new educators who all entered free of charge. For others, the cost was $35 for adults and $15 for children.
The Journal was there for the event and was able to capture a few photos of new residents as well as some familiar faces like Clifton Forge mayor, Jeff Irvine; Clifton Forge town manager, Chuck Unroe; and Executive Director for Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, Josh Taylor; among many others. | | | |
