Hornets' Victory Stings For the Cougars By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Covington, VA (Oct. 17, 2025)— It was a fight for first place in the Shenandoah Region when the undefeated Alleghany Cougars (4-0) took on the undefeated Wilson Memorial Hornets (4-0) in the Shenandoah Region. The teams appeared evenly matched early on, with the Hornets being the only ones to score by field goal in the closing seconds of the first half. However, they came back with a vengeance in the second quarter and wound up overtaking the Cougars 17-3 in the end. The win moves the Hornets to the number one spot in the Shenandoah Region with a perfect 5-0 record, placing the Cougars in at number two with a 4-1 record.
