Clifton Forge, VA (Oct. 16, 2025)— It was a lengthy Community Gathering meeting tonight at the Historic Masonic Theatre. To start, Town Manager Chuck Unroe, and Director of Planning and Community Development in Clifton Forge, Maria Saxton, both gave brief updates on the town.
Afterwards, Amanda McGee, Director of Community Development for the Roanoke Valley Alleghany Regional Commission, gave a virtual presentation on the future plans for Clifton Forge. At the foundation of McGee's presentation were three main topics: "focused planning efforts around key community issues, a short-term planning window of 1-5 years, and actionable items to create change."
Finally, the main focus of the evening was the candidate conversation for the write-in candidates of both the East and West Districts of Clifton Forge. For East, the candidates are Dominique Washington, Shannon Miller Brantley, and Patty McAnnally. For West, the candidates are Courtney Howard and Greg Dodd, though Dodd was unable to attend due to a recent hospital visit. Tonight's moderator was Autumn Miller of the Community Gathering Planning Committee.
The Alleghany Journal was on hand to record the entirety of tonight's Community Gathering event and will soon be posting videos on our Facebook page. | | (left to right) Courtney Howard, Patty McAnnally, Shannon Miller Brantley, and Dominique Washington
