Iron Gate Town Clerk Ashley Prior Resigns By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer   Iron Gate, VA (July 21, 2025)— The Journal has just learned that Iron Gate's Town Clerk, Ashley Prior, resigned from her post this morning. Prior sent us a copy of the letter she handed in which reads as follows: Dear members of Council and Mayor Persinger, My time here has been more than just a job. It has been a journey filled with lessons, challenges, and accomplishments. For a while now, I have been going above and beyond my normal job duties. Since the beginning of this year, I have had some health issues. I have recently learned they have not been getting better. It is with a sad heart I am tendering my resignation as Town Clerk/Treasurer for the Town of Iron Gate, effective immediately. I wish the town the absolute best with any and all future endeavors.
