'Youth Day' Welcomes Big Crowd at Jackson River Sports Complex
| By Jennifer Bailey Staff Writer | Covington, VA (May 10, 2025)— From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Covington Parks and Recreation hosted "Youth Day" at the Jackson River Sports Complex. The highly anticipated event offered face painting, a petting zoo, laser tag courtesy of Mountain Rush, several vendors, Luca's pizza, a meet-and-greet with several dogs available for adoption at the humane society, prizes, and plenty of activities for the whole family.
At the River Rock Ampitheatre, several groups from Patsy's Dance Studio took turns performing routines for the excited crowd. Nearby was a small play area for the little ones who enjoyed splashing water in the mini pool, tossing miniature inflatable balls around, and digging in the sandbox.
Just behind the ampitheatre, the Covington Fire Department was on-hand to give out plastic fire helmets to eager children. As one strolled even further back, a fun petting zoo was set up which featured small cows, horses, and a couple of goats.
The Journal was fortunate enough to capture several photos of the event which will soon be available on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/alleghanyjournal | | | |
