Clifton Forge, VA (Oct. 1, 2024) - The Depot on Main, located at 528 Main Street in Clifton Forge in the old antique shop, held a ribbon-cutting this morning to celebrate a new name and owner. The quaint "one stop shopping store" is filled with "vintage, antiques, art, ceramics, quilts, handmade jewelry and apparel, home decor, and so much more!"

Among those to speak at the event were Josh Taylor, executive director of the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism; Kathleen All, Board President for the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism; David Crosier, Vice-Mayor for the City of Covington; Jeff Irvine, Mayor of the Town of Clifton Forge; Dr. Ronald Goings, Alleghany County Supervisor; Tyler Sizemore Deputy Director of the Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation; and owner of the Depot on Main, Betsy Rogers.

Ms. All was quick to note the 30+ vendors who work with Rogers that make up the Depot on Main. "You are certainly going to find something here," All said. "Christmas is coming, so great place for Christmas shopping."

Vice-Mayor Crosier was next to speak at the brief event. Crosier opened with a friendly jest toward Mayor Irvine, suggesting that the Clifton Forge Mayor was among the antiques. After a laugh from the crowd, Crosier's tone was more earnest. "Seriously, I wish I had about three hours I could just come in, wander around. I could spend half my time on records and comic books."

Following a few words from Mayor Irvine, Dr. Goings, and Mr. Sizemore, store owner Betsy Rogers offered a few closing remarks. She began with a big smile before expressing her gratitude toward everyone who attended the ribbon cutting. "Above all, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for this experience because, through Him, all things are possible." Rogers, whose faith can be observed throughout her store in the numerous Christian items being sold, remarked that the Depot on Main "is God's store" and she "just works there." The new owner also disclosed her store was 100% furnished by more than 30+ local vendors because Rogers wants to "keep the money in Clifton Forge and Alleghany County."

Here is some video of the event:
