JR Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K Races Here Sat., June 8th   Covington, VA (June 5, 2024) - On Saturday, June 8th the Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K will take place on the Jackson River Scenic Trail in Alleghany County. The trail will be occupied by over 400 participants, many of which are traveling to the Alleghany Highlands from all over the country. Please use caution when driving on sections of the road that the trail crosses. These areas are at the Intervale Trailhead, Petticoat Junction, and the straightaway on Route 687 near Falling Spring Gardens. We encourage the community to come out and cheer the runners on, however, please be aware that the trail will be extremely congested during the race and parking will be limited. The race begins at 7:00 a.m. and should conclude no later than 3:00 p.m.
