Suspects Arrested For Drugs, Weapons Possession Here

 
Covington, VA (May 8, 2024) - On May 6, 2024, at approximately 2200 hours the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force with assistance from the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and the Va. State Police Tactical Team executed a search warrant at 106 Bailey’s Road, Covington, Va. 24426.

Present at the location was Shannon Lee Cooper (50) of Covington, Judy Saunders Barber (43) of Covington, and Patrick Ray Webb (61) 3504 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge and a juvenile was also present.

During the search two suspect devices were located and the Virginia State Police BCI bomb and arson agents responded and x-rayed the devices. One was empty and the other was found to contain more drugs.

Seized from the residence was approximately 318 grams of methamphetamine, 20 grams of Heroin, 1 gram of crack Cocaine, 3 grams of Ecstasy, 4 handguns, numerous baggies for packaging, scales and $ 3,997.00 in US Currency.

The charges that were placed are:

Cooper:

1-Obstructing justice, Fleeing from a law enforcement officer

1-Possess firearm by a convicted felon

1-Possess firearm while possessing a controlled substance

1-Possess with intent distribute Methamphetamine over 100 grams

1-Possess with intent distribute Heroin over 10 grams

1-Possess with intent distribute Extasy/MDMA

1-Possess with intent distribute Cocaine

1-Possess controlled paraphernalia

1-Child Endangerment

Barber:

1-Possess with intent distribute Methamphetamine

1-Possess with intent distribute Heroin

1-Possess with intent distribute Cocaine

1-Possess controlled paraphernalia

1-Child endangerment

Webb:

1-Possess controlled substance Cocaine

1-Possess firearm while in possession of a controlled substance

The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force is made up of officers from Alleghany, Bath and Craig Sheriff Offices, Covington police Department and the Virginia State Police.

This was a great investigation by the Drug Task Force and a great operation by all agencies involved. The manufacture, distribution or use of drugs will not be tolerated in Alleghany County and will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
